voyage of discovery

I decided to do Strawberrry’s didn’t seem that intrusive, so this shy girl tried it out.

How do you deal with criticism?

Criticism is such a sensitive topic.  I know I need it, but my mood decides how I deal with getting negative criticism.   Sometimes it rolls of like butter other times I have to find a dark corner and just sit and reflect.   It depends on who, when, where, and what.

What’s the most infuriating thing other SL residents do?

Disregard of newer residents because we haven’t been around as long others.  Just like everyone else, I’m trying to find my place.  People talk about retention and why people stay and why people go in SL all the time.  A welcoming community will make people stay, so when I see so many people go,  it makes me wonder.  I’m very, very quiet, polite, and I just have stayed to myself these last two years. Part of that I seriously take a lot of blame for, but some things have happened that just make me always feel like I’m on my tiptoes waiting for danger.

Which SL resident would you most like to have lunch with and why?

There are so many, but mainly cause I’ve never had the confidence to chat with them in world.  If I had to narrow it down to one person, I would say Harlow Heslop.  I met her once around two years ago.  A friend introduced us, and I just remember how much she reminded me of my friends from high school.  I remember chatting forever with those girls, so I guess Harlow simply because she reminds me of a good part of my past.

Who would you say is your “anti” role model? Someone who serves as a warning rather than an inspiration?

I’m so far from perfect that this question is just too hard.  I see the good in everything and I see the bad.  I haven’t met anyone yet that made me believe that the bad was so bad that I couldn’t stand them any longer.  I’m a forgive and always remember type of person though, so time will tell.

What was something you used to enjoy, but was ruined for you?

When I first started blogging I had no clue, I just wanted to find stuff that I liked no matter when it was released and no matter what it was. Now, I want to do the same, but I have some restrictions that I’ve willfully placed myself in.  I have taken some of the blog what you want when you want out of  my space.  I have no one person to blame.  I just like blogging for me sometimes, and I haven’t found that time in that for a very long time.

I used to enjoy exploring with my boyfriend as well, especially when we first started, but he left because people wanted him to take sides in drama.  He doesn’t do that stuff.  To him this game was escape, and they took that from him, and in a way took him from me because he no longer plays.

What’s something you want to do that you’d be embarrassed to tell other people about?

I’ve thought and thought and this question is beyond hard.  I’m not really embarrassed by anything I want to do with my life.

Have you ever fallen in love with another SL resident? Yes.

Describe a time/event in your slife that you’re nostalgic for.

No one and no time. I just wish my boyfriend would find out how special this life can be.

What’s something sweet you’d like someone to do for you?

Send me an IM to go do some dancing or something.  I never get out.  I see tons of things to do, but I feel a bit intimated to just go by myself.  It is always nice to know somebody is thinking of you and wants you to be there.

Inspirations: Comment on Other Blogs

I really wasn’t planning on writing another blogpost today, and by now, some of you would like me to go back to work. I have blogged a bit more than I have in the past because I have the week off. But, Sasy Scarborough has proposed a challenge to anyone who blogs or reads a blog.  It is simple: Leave a comment.  Read more about it here.

I know.  It may seem silly and way too simple, but I have no idea where I would be right now if it wasn’t for some sort of feedback on my blog.  I don’t get many comments, so when I do, they make me so happy–like I can’t stop smiling happy.  Someone took the time out of their busy day to say “this is great”.    I did comment more when I first started blogging, but have slacked recently.  I got so caught up in managing my own blog that I forgot to stop and verbally acknowledge what other people are doing.  I visit many blogs over the course of the week.  Many of them deserve a comment, but I don’t leave one.

I can’t tell you how awesome it is to have the support of the 52 weeks of color group or any fellow SLer who found their way to my blog and left a comment.  I can’t even tell you how happy I was when the owners of Sn@tch or Flowey or Dark Mouse left a comment on my blog.   And most recently, I was stunned to find a comment by Sasy herself yesterday.

All of these keep me going, learning, and growing as a blogger.   I will link to my first blog post ever, Feb. 2011-a ripe three months after logging into SL for the first time ever.  I may not be the best picture taker or blogger, but I have improved so much through feedback and comments.

Leave a comment for someone else.  You can think of it as giving a big old bear hug to someone else for a job well done.  Okay, off I go a commenting….

Inspire Me:Unforgettable Quotation

“With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall.”  Emerson, from “Self-Reliance”

Pose: Marukin-Stillwater

Blinks. Is it really Thursday night? My heavy eyelids push open and close, relentlessly fighting dreams of missed opportunities. I will blog. I will blog.

This past week the SL Blogging Support put out an Inspire Me Initiative. The initiative is more daily inspiration and ideas for those struggling with photography concepts.    Monday’s prompt was unforgettable quotations.  Sitting in my little space in SL, I thought of  the quotation from Emerson’s essay, “Self-Reliance,” but I had no idea how to convey my mind’s message, so I decide to go shopping for my 52 weeks of color outfit, the color Bittersweet.  Needless to say, those two challenges eventually merged into the picture above.  Hey, I can rock two challenges in one blog-post even if I can’t do it on time.

May we all fight the mundane and step outside of the box every once in a while, so we aren’t so enchanted by our shadows, but instead with a world teeming with possibilities.

Miss Hot Cinnamon

Miss Hot Cinnamon loved to dance.  In fact, on many occasion she would be the last “lady” on the dance floor.  She twirled.  She kicked.  She moved her hips.  Many of men loved Miss Cinnamon because she rarely wore undergarments.  They peeped.  They gawked.  They loved when she moved her hips.   Understandably, Miss Cinnamon was not a favorite among the women on the dance floor.  Husbands and boyfriends alike were snatched up by their wives and girlfriends from the floor.  Did Miss Hot Cinnamon care?  Nope.  She wasn’t interested in their men.  She was married to dance.

I must say, Miss Hot Cinnamon was born out of the dress I got on the Summer Harvest Hunt from 22769.  It is such a fun dress, and oh, it was free!  Immediately, I knew I wanted to do a post that was about dance.  I decided to add Truth’s new hair Carmen because I loved how the waves cascaded out.

Short and sweet blogpost for today!  If you are celebrating Labor Day, have fun!

B&W Challenge: Constantly Saving Myself from Self-Destruct.

I often feel like I am my own worst enemy.  I focus 100% on the task at hand.  Good-If you have my attention, then you have 100% of it.  Bad-If you don’t, I will ignore you.  This seeps into every ounce of my fiber.  Whatever I am not doing, kinda just fades to the back of my mind.  Inevitably, some things get out of hand and some people get pretty mad.

Two things collide in these pics: The Black and White Challenge by Maci Restless and the fact that I feel a bit overwhelmed.  I was aiming to do something destructive to match my mood at the moment.  I was just testing poses, and realized that this particular pose above by Delmay looked as if I was trying to catch the bat thwarted by the object in the back. Voila. Perfect. I kinda liked it. The area was particle heavy and all the shots, no matter what, would not cooperate, so I cropped it more than I wanted.  I didn’t really fix anything…just let it be and changed the colors. I did have a story in my own head about these photos.  They may not be my best, but I loved thinking outside of the box, and trying to make it happen!  Thanks Maci!

FaMESHed is under way.  They have tons of goodies.  I am being a conservationist and only buying what I plan on using in the moment instead of going FaMeshING-crazy.  This round, I picked up some shoes by Decoy and some hair by Wasabi Pills.  I am sure I will keep going back to FaMESHed all month.  I also tried and loved the Glam Affair Lilith Skin.  It is beautiful.  Is it me?  Not so sure.  I loved it enough to buy it though! Her skins are always so sleek and sophisticated.  They scream buy me.   I am sure you will see it sprinkled among my blog posts.  Kamouraska also put out Noranda Chevron Kaftan dress in an exclusive Teal color for her group gift this month!  Kamouraska does have new exclusives each month, so make sure to join right now–it’s free!  (Sorry, you can’t see the color…whoopsy!)
